I have loved records since I was old enough to work the family turntable. Selections available in my house ranged from my father's "Sing Along With Mitch" lps to my mother's collection of show tunes with a healthy dose of classical mixed in. When I was old enough to have a transistor radio and be the master of the music I listened to, I began collecting 45s. My taste at this early age was mostly Top 40. I was lucky enough to have a father who was willing to buy the music I requested. Well, except for that one time I asked him to get me "Touch Me" by The Doors. I really loved this song. Imagine my surprise when he handed me "Don't Touch Me" by some country artist! Granted, I got the point he was making while realizing it was time for me to do my own record shopping. So, basically, since then, I have been collecting vinyl on and off over the years. In the past year or so, I have made the decision to build up my vinyl collection, focusing on replacing lost albums and acquiring those I should have been savvy enough to have bought years earlier. My vinyl hunting has taken me to a variety of places where vinyl is available. Having visited a number of places, I realized it would have been helpful to have had some type of guide that clued me into the specifics of various vinyl stores so that I could make the most of my time and get the most for my money. It is my hope that this blog serves that purpose for you. As I share my vinyl hunting experiences, I hope you do as well!
